By Andrea McClure

This season many brides are eschewing the peak months of spring and summer to get married in the autumn. This provides many new and exciting opportunities in decoration as they go through with their wedding planning. The season?s bright and vibrant colors make it possible to decorate your ceremony in a way that will leave an indelible impression on your guests. One of the places where you can best put forth your effort with the fall wedding theme is your reception. There many opportunities to decorate from the wall and ceiling, to the tables and seats. Here are some great tips for decorating your reception location in the colors of fall.

The walls are the first thing you should pay attention to. These are the largest areas you can work with and decorated with the right ornaments, will look spectacular. The goal is to create a sense of bringing the season inside for your guests. To achieve this there are a number of options. The first is something borrowed from how elementary schools decorate for the season. Attach paper trees and leaves to the walls to give an impression of being in an autumn forest. The type of venue that will be most effective is one that is smaller and more intimate to make the effect have real impact on your guests. However, if you have the budget to put up more in a larger venue go for it. Another great idea is to put of murals of agricultural and harvest scenes. You can mix these to ideas to showcase the many sides of the season and use the walls to almost tell a story.

Now we think about the guest tables. The first thing to think about is tablecloths. These might seem like the most basic part of adorning the tables but they play an important role in setting the stage for other decorations such as centerpieces. Some brides will consider using plain white as this is cost effective and the color will mesh well with most fall colors. For a bolder look use fall colored tablecloths. Great selections are orange, golden yellow, deep brown, and red are colors that will immediately give the guest tables style and panache without you doing anything else.

Now we can focus on the centerpieces. The centerpiece is the main eye catcher for your guests and will help tie your theme to what is in front of your guests as they dine or simply rest from dancing and other reception activities. There are several ways to go about making centerpieces. The most traditional is to use floral arrangements using fall hues and flowers. Chrysanthemums, poppies, and sunflowers are common flowers used. A new trend is to use grains and dried grasses in centerpieces. If you live in the Southwest or similarly arid climates you can used succulents such as cactus and aloe Vera for your centerpiece.

Finally, there is lighting. Add a warm glow and aura to your reception venue with mood lighting. You can go with high tech options like light projectors that can project light in the shape of colored autumn leaves. If you want to go with something more intimate then you can go with candles. You can use candles just about anywhere in the reception hall. For example, candles in colored candleholders can be the centers of your centerpieces and provide mood lighting and enhance the centerpieces. You can also have them line against the walls for greater impact. - 30544
