To find unique themes look to local influences in your area. Each place has its own unique characteristics and winter in one area is definitely going to look different from winter in another area. However don't try to reproduce your area in its entirety. Look for distinctive features that will stand out. For example if you live in Colorado you might want to base your decorations on winter in the mountain using images of snow clad slopes and peak and scenes of Denver surrounds by mountains. Use your own discretion and imagination to guide your choices.

Look for modern interpretations of popular themes in your decorations. The challenge with themes such as winter or Christmas is that they have invariably been done before by other brides. This can make it hard to do something fresh. So when you look for decorations a good idea is to not look for decorations based on common motifs with their traditional forms. Look for items that present them in a unique and original way. For example instead of using a decoration in the shaped of a traditional snowflake you can use one that has snowflakes made of hearts or other interesting shapes. Looking for a fresh artistic perspective can breathe new life into the theme of your dcor.

Keep it clean and elegant when decorating for your ceremony. The ceremony is the most solemn party of your wedding. It is when you exchange the sacred vows of matrimony with your groom so the venue where you do that will have a completely different atmosphere from that of your reception hall. Go with elegant and simple decorations that give an impression of sophistication. A great suggestion is to evenly space out decorations for a balanced and clean look.

For your reception hall you are dealing with a venue that is focused solely on celebrating your wedding. So look for festive and interesting shapes. Winter provides a limited color scheme but make use of the few bold colors where possible. If you are focusing on a monochrome color scheme then make up for the lack of color with innovative and uniquely shaped decorations. Use form rather than color to catch the attention of your guests in all your decorations from streamers to the table centerpieces. - 30544
