The Best Man's speech can be daunting for the best friend of the groom. You are given the honor of speaking on one of the most important days of your friend's life as he enters the married state with his bride. So what do you say? What will be the driving point of what you are saying? Will it be meaningful or will it be playful? These are the many questions that you the best man are contemplating. However don't be concerned. Here are some great ideas to help your get started. This helps you to at least avoid embarrassing yourself.

One thing to do is to think about the bride and groom. You may have known both for a long time. Use some of what you know to create a mental picture of the bride and groom and show the audience how great they are show how special they are to you. Keep the speech short and brief. A big pitfall for most wedding speakers is that they drag out the speech. The long solemn part should have been left back with the ceremony. The speech is the opener for a joyous feast. So keep to the point and don't try to embellish or tell a story in detail. The goal is to give a small snapshot of the lives of the bride and groom. Check with the groom and father of the bride to make sure you are not redundant. This will make it less likely to be recycles and protect you from major embarrassment.

Choose jokes that are relevant and have simple delivery. As the best man you are almost considered to be the master of ceremonies for the reception so one of the expectations is that you will be the funny man. Keep jokes simple and brief to reduce the bomb factor and keep it relevant to the wedding. Some of the greatest jokes and standup routines are based on everyday life and situations. The more natural the joke the more likely its impact on your audience

To make sure that you don't get off topic have a note card with the main points of your speech. You don't have to and you shouldn't try to memorize your speech. Keep to the basic to make it fresh and new. You want to make it flexible so you can respond to the audience and make the speech more appealing.

Keep it simple and clear. You don't have to use complicated English or really obscure words from the dictionary. Keep the language plain and as descriptive as needed. The point of a good speech is to effectively convey your thoughts and feelings
